Ron Peters will be teaching a class on jazz improvising using arpeggios and upper structure 7th chords as an alternative to using only scales. He is also doing a workshop on how to embellish blues chords with 9ths, 11ths, 13ths and alterations.

A fantastic new voice instructor at Bothell Music Lessons
Bothell Music Lessons is very excited to welcome a new voice instructor, Erica Convery. She is experienced, powerful, and educated (master degree in voice). She has a solid foundation to teach students from a variety of levels (beginners, intermediate, & advanced), ages (6 years old to adults), past experience, and preferred styles (classical, jazz, opera, musicals, folk, pop & country). She is not only a very experienced teacher, but also improving her own skills of performance by actively performing in operas and musicals and other genres at all sorts of venues. She is an one-of-a-kind voice teacher in the entire north east side of Puget Sound.

All students participate in large string and wind groups, small chamber ensembles and full symphony orchestra. There are daily outdoor activities, and concerts at the end of camp.

SUMMARY: Internationally renowned clarinetist Maryanne Lacaille returns to the Seattle Central Library with a sizzling concert of clarinet music recently composed in South America.
DESCRIPTION:
Clarinetist Maryanne Lacaille has garnered international attention for her virtuosity, creativity and command of her instrument producing rich lush phrasing and dynamic programming. Her travels to over 26 countries including Hong Kong, Italy, Germany, Mexico, Central America, Hawaii, Thailand, South India, Venezuela, Mumbai, Cuba and Brazil during the past 30 years has become the fabric and force of her insight into musical cultures. In December 2014, Maryanne traveled to Samoa and Auckland New Zealand to research the rich heritage and tradition of the voice. A recent appearance at the International Clarinet Association Conference 2014 in Baton Rouge reviewer touted her performance of the Resanovic alt.music.ballistix (for clarinet and tape) as "un-surrealistic and brilliant performance”.
Pianist Jason S. Kuo studied with Martha Wasley at the University of California at Berkeley and was later coached by Janet Guggenheim, whose worldwide concert credits included over thirty years of collaboration with the celebrated violinist Itzhak Perlman. Dr. Kuo performed in public masterclasses of Richard Goode and the late Karl Schnabel while residing in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has been teaching piano privately since 1991, and has been actively performing as an accompanist and a chamber musician. Dr. Kuo also performs as the keyboard member of the Northwest Symphony Orchestra and Octava Chamber Orchestra.

3 students, Jeffrey Wu, Evan Jones, and Sinclair Jones instructed by one of the teachers at Bothell Music Lessons, Mizue Murakami, are taking Music Development Program's exams at the end of May. It is an assessment exam held by RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music) three times a year. Jeffrey, Evan and Sinclair have been working really hard to prepare for the exams last few months. Let's wish them the best results !!!

Diana Boboc, one of the students at Bothell Music Lessons became No. 1 in the music composition category of Reflections Art Program by PTA in Kenmore Junior High School. She composed a piano piece titled "Summer in Southern Europe". She expressed her memories of her visit in Southern Europe on the piano. Let's congratulate her wonderful creativity !
Reflections Art Program by PTA happens nationally. But the competition for the entries are judged starting from each school to each school district to state wide and then to the entire USA. It happens once a year starting in the fall.
