Mr. Gessel has been playing the horn for nearly 30 years, starting when he was 14.  His teachers include Jacqueline Shannon, Kathy Farner, Jeff Snedeker, Elizabeth Ward, Kathy Colton, Larry Lowe, Rodger Burnett and Stacey Eliason.  He has performed with the Yakima Symphony, Mid-Columbia Symphony, Olympia Symphony, Leavenworth Summer Music Festival, Wenatchee Symphony, Thalia Symphony, Ensign Symphony, Emerald Wind Quintet, Chinook Wind Dectet, and other ensembles in Washington state.  He received his BA in Music at Central Washington University.  Mr. Gessel has also written dozens of works for the horn and for brass ensembles, as well as for symphony orchestras and larger ensembles.  He has been teaching horn for over 10 years, and accepts beginner through advanced horn students, ages 10 and up.
