"William Tell" a revolutionary opera by Gioachino Rossini

"William Tell" is an iconic French opera crafted by Gioachino Rossini characterized by its length, brilliant overture, high-range of casting and tenor requirements-making it one of the most difficult pieces to be ever produced. Its libretto were created by L. F. Bis and Victor-Joseph Étienne de Jouy.

Due to its sensitive revolutionary topic, "William Tell" was censored and had gone through several limited performances until allowed to be fully produced in 1856 at the “Teatro La Fenice” in Venice.

Rossini successfully produced a unique and authentic symphony, which explored human conflicts such as loving someone from a nation that oppresses, renouncing your loved one to avenge one's father's death, the glory of serving the nation, the challenges of paternal relations, all were wonderfully orchestrated resulting to a powerfully captivating performance. "William Tell" goes beyond the mere boundaries of music! Truly a remarkable work of a genius!

Considered to be Verdi's Cinderella piece, "Il trovatore" is historical opera with its unique story plot, a power cast of singers and majestic performance which upon its premiere on  January, 1853 in Naples, Italy, had gained immense popularity that in 3 years time, recorded a staggering number of productions, 229 to be exact-worldwide!

“Il trovatore” is a four-act opera based on Antonio García Gutiérrez’s play entitled “El trovatore.” It was crafted by Verdi with the aid of Salvadore Cammarano who did the Italian libretto.

Verdi, being a prevalent musical prodigy, had revolutionized the new musical expression. He explored the complexity of the characters through his music, combining dramatic yet bizarre twist of agony, jealousy, obsession and trauma through arias, cabalettas, and cantabiles using strings, harp, bass drum, and castanets, to name a few.

To top it all, the opera requires four of the world’s best singers to be able to justify the best of the emotional journey.

the story of the creepy yet compelling "Tosca" by Puccini

“Tosca” was originally crafted by Victorien Sardou, a French playwright who entitled it as “La Tosca”. Because of its amazing plot and outstanding performance, it commanded more than 3,000 performances in France alone.

Apparently, talented Giacomo Puccini was so interested to convert it into an Italian opera and it took four years of Puccini repeatedly arguing with his publisher, and librettists until he was able to obtain its rights on 1895 with the help of Giuseppe Giacosa and Luigi Illica who converted its Italian libretto setting and have it officially performed as an opera.

"Tosca" is a compelling story incorporating a pinch of controversy, beautifully done through a collection of distinguishable set-pieces strung by equally memorable melodies which some find a mixture of hostility, naivety and vulnerability. Puccini incorporated dramatic energy with substantial amount of lyricism, with choruses, recitatives, and arias woven seamlessly together, making it known for being “thoroughly-composed”.
