"Goldberg Variations" consist of 32 marvelous pieces (including the Aria used twice) created by J.S Bach, intended for keyboard (harpsichord).

First published in 1741 using the title “Clavierbung” this unbelievable collection was critically acclaimed as one of the most ambitious and serious compositions ever crafted for harpsichord.

"Goldberg Variations" is a combination of various melodies with exceptional command on diverse styles of music along with Bach's delicate techniques and the abundant usage of fashionable, modern eloquent elements, truly a display of his amusing wit!

Experts often consider it to be a summary of the entire history of musical variations of the Baroque period, and even today, one of the most notorious pieces a pianist can ever tangle with!

About the soundtrack album from “The Sting” with Hamlisch and Joplin

Hailed for its brilliance, The American movie classic "The Sting" grabbed seven Oscars with additional three nominations, a remarkable feat in the history of Academy Awards.

But one thing that added to the success of the movie was the undeniable contribution of the soundtracks with the pervasive musical ingenuity of Marvin Hamlisch and Scott Joplin.

Marvin Hamlisch was a respected composer that adapted multiple ragtime compositions by Scott Joplin in the album. George Roy Hill also covered the notes, narrating the background story and the soundtrack album was released with the help of Gil Rodin, the executive producer of “The Sting”.

The track has 13 songs composed in the “major key” with its jolly, inspirational and high-spirited vibes and a sort of nostalgic, melancholic and odd sentimentality, greatly influenced by Joplin’s music.

Study J.S. Bach’s myriad musical styles through "The Well-Tempered Clavier"

Considered to be the crowning jewel of the Baroque era, “The Well-Tempered Clavier” is a highly-regarded collection in the vast history of classical music. It surpasses all others as it has clean textures, striking characteristics, thoughtful range of music, and subtle sense of rightness in every tempo; a masterpiece carefully crafted and thoroughly studied.

During those times, multiple church modes were reduced, hindering the freedom of modulation. Eventually, more “major” and “minor” keys became available and Bach took the chance of opening doors by utilizing all keys theoretically available. His collection is deemed to be very significant historically as it launched new avenues for future generations.

Although whole collection was published 51 years after his death, that didn't stop the world from recognizing Bach's unique artistry and musical contribution. There came the modern editions of the collection and also over 150 recordings of this celebrated collection documented until now, with transcriptions for synthesizers and ensembles.

Learn More About the Legendary "The Mighty Five"

Known first as the "Mighty Handful”, “The Five” or "The Mighty Five" was a powerhouse musical group formed together by five of the most celebrated Russian composers including Alexander Borodin, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Modest Mussorgsky, César Cui, and their leader Mily Balakirev.

The formation was dated in 1856 all of which started so young and were basically amateur back then, just relied on self-training and improvement.

They faced a lot of opposition, heavy criticisms and mockeries from the Russian Musical Society yet the group remained steadfast in their artistic collaboration aimed to create a distinct genre of Russian classical music.

"The Five” also incorporated sounds that were engraved with the Russian lifestyle. They stayed out of any elite court connections as they want their movement to be more classical and authentically Russian.

They succeeded to produce radical melodies and had greatly influenced legendary musical composers like Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel.
