Due to traditional limits during the late Romantic era, though he was well-respected as a conductor and did enjoy periods of success and acclaim, he didn’t receive his deserving appreciation until long after his passing due public’s inability to fully understand his work.
But that didn't stop this underrated musician from producing unique pieces which today is considered to be worthy precursor of the 20th-century musical styles, inspiring the likes of Benjamin Britten and Arnold Schoenberg.
